The bout between Eduard "Landslide" Folayang, 35, of the Philippines and Eddie "The Underground King" Alvarez, 35, of the United States is one of the most anticipated ones at "ONE: Dawn of Heroes" on August 2, 2019. The two are set to compete in a semi-final bout of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix.
Both Alvarez and Folayang are coming out of a devastating loss. On July 25, 2019, the American mixed martial arts veteran took to Twitter to ask his fans how they wanted him to defeat his Filipino opponent at "ONE: Dawn of Heroes," which will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
If You guys could choose a way for me to defeat Eduard Folayang on aug 2nd how would you want it done ???? #askugk

Alvarez immediately received several responses from his fans and friends. One of them was Corey "Overtime" Anderson, 29, of the U.S., a light heavyweight fighter currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Currently, Anderson holds a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 4 losses. Competing in the UFC since 2014, he won his three most recent bouts via unanimous decision.
Alvarez also competed in the UFC from 2014 to 2018. On March 31, 2019, he made his ONE Championship debut at "ONE: A New Era" at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
At "ONE: A New Era," Alvarez faced Timofey Nastyukhin, 29, of Russia in the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix quarter-finals. The Russian contender knocked out his American opponent via punches in the first round.
In the main event of "ONE: A New Era," Folayang defended the ONE Lightweight World Championship belt from Shinya "Tobikan Judan" Aoki, 36, of Japan. The Japanese challenger submitted the Filipino defending champion via arm-triangle choke in the first round.
"ONE: A New Era" marks the second bout of Alvarez in ONE Championship. It will be Folayang's 17th.
Folayang himself has a prediction for his upcoming bout against Alvarez. The Filipino MMA superstar training out of Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines said, "A knockout and submission will always be there if you are in the proper position."
"That is a given," the Team Lakay fighter continued. "I think it will end in a knockout."
Meanwhile, here is a clip featuring Folayang in an open workout at the Victory Sports Tower in Quezon City, Metro Manila in 2018:
