The GYF and Gao competitions are platforms for the students to present their point of view about important issues on both national and international significance.
The students from Baguio International Academy (BIA) Koeller George Saliwan, Nesline Ranille, Benjamin Burgonio and Hanna Cho bagged the preliminary round against 17 teams to break through the final round. The team finally captured a respectable fifth place including the Creativity Award.
The theme of the competition focused on Artificial Intelligence and its benefits and risks.
"The topic purposely allows room for different interpretations and perspectives. Creative interpretations are encouraged and the students are not limited to the listed subtopics in their presentations," trainer Dalsenea Marzan said.
"However, all subtopics should be addressed in some fashion for presentation unity," Dalsenea, who were not able to join the team added.
The team was fully supported and escorted by Rev. Michelle Lee, principal Aurora Quinones, and Dr. Chona Burgonio, Benjamin's mother.
The brilliant and promising BIA team promised to compete in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. next year.
