The Presidential Museum at the historic Mansion House in Baguio City is now open to the public, offering both locals and tourists a new cultural destination. The opening ceremony, held on 8 September 2024, was attended by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

Located along C.P. Romulo Drive near Wright Park, the Mansion House has long been a symbol of the presidency in the Philippines. This new museum, housed within the iconic structure, now features a collection of historical memorabilia and artwork, including paintings that were originally displayed at Malacañan Palace. The museum project, which reportedly cost ₱100 million to complete, adds another significant cultural site to Baguio's tourist offerings.

Managing Visitor Access for a Quality Experience

Office of the President Social Secretary Bianca Cristina Zobel provided details regarding how visitors can tour the museum. To prevent overcrowding and ensure a smooth experience, only 20 guests are allowed per tour. Zobel advised those interested in visiting to book their tours in advance, given the limited capacity.

The museum expects to accommodate around 500 visitors on weekdays and as many as 3,000 on weekends. Zobel also noted that despite the opening, ongoing work is still being carried out to further improve the Mansion House's facilities.

What Visitors Can Expect

Inside the Presidential Museum, visitors will find a variety of historical artifacts and artwork that offer insight into the Philippine presidency and the nation's history. One of the main attractions is the collection of paintings from Malacañan Palace, which adds a refined artistic touch to the historical experience.

The museum provides a rare chance for visitors to explore the Mansion House, which has traditionally been closed to the public, making it a unique and enriching stop for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.

Booking Your Visit

To ensure access, guests are required to book their visits ahead of time through the proper channels. With only 20 people allowed per group, it is recommended to secure reservations early. This policy helps maintain the historical ambiance of the site while providing a more intimate tour experience.

Zobel reiterated the importance of booking in advance and expressed confidence that visitors would enjoy the well-organized tours and historical insights offered at the museum.

Ongoing Enhancements at the Mansion House

Although the museum has already opened its doors, there is still ongoing work being carried out to further improve the Mansion House. While a completion timeline for these efforts was not provided, Zobel assured the public that it would not interfere with the current tours.

A Cultural Asset for Baguio City

The opening of the Presidential Museum at the Mansion House enhances Baguio City's reputation as a premier cultural and historical destination. Known for its unique climate and heritage sites, the addition of the museum enriches the city's cultural landscape, making it a must-visit location for history lovers.

The combination of historical memorabilia, artworks, and access to the Mansion House itself makes the museum an essential stop for anyone exploring Baguio City, offering a deeper understanding of the country's rich presidential history.

Preserving History for Future Generations

With the opening of the Presidential Museum, Baguio City adds a new layer of cultural significance to its list of attractions. The project provides an opportunity for visitors to connect with the nation's past, promoting a greater appreciation of Philippine history and heritage. The initiative ensures that future generations can explore and learn from the legacy housed within the Mansion's walls.
