Mummy Coffins confined in Safe Dry Caves in Timbac, Kabayan
Mummification is one of the traditional practices of the people of Benguet Province in preserving their dead. It is performed mainly by the Ibaloy tribe particularly in the Municipality of Kabayan where the mummies were discovered.
The well preserved human mummies were found in caves at Timbac, Bangao, Tinongchol, Naapay and Opdas all in Kabayan. These mummies were believed to be rediscovered in the early 1900s.
