BENECO Task Force Appoints Engr. Melchor Licoben as General Manager

Big news for the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) - Engr. Melchor Licoben is back as their General Manager (GM). The National Electrification Administration (NEA) recommended him for the position, and the BENECO Task Force Interim Board of Directors unanimously agreed.

Engr. Melchor Licoben

Licoben, the Top Choice

There were no other candidates in the running; Engr. Melchor Licoben was the top pick. Steve Cating, the Interim Board of Directors Chairperson, spoke for the task force, which includes representatives from different sectors in Baguio City and Benguet Province. They have complete confidence in Licoben's abilities and believe he's the right fit.

A Proud Appointment

Steve Cating expressed their pride in appointing Engr. Melchor S. Licoben as GM of the Benguet Electric Cooperative. They have no doubts about his skills as a manager and his value to BENECO. As they prepare for the next 50 years and the renewal of their franchise, they look forward to his leadership.

Strong Support

The endorsement for Engr. Melchor Licoben's GM appointment wasn't just from the Task Force and NEA. The local government units of Baguio City and Benguet and the member-consumer-owners (MCOs) also firmly supported this decision.

Long-Awaited News

The announcement of the GM's appointment came during the BENECO Employees Awarding and 50th Anniversary program on October 6. NEA Administrator Antonio Almeda was there as a guest. This marked the end of a long wait for the change in leadership.

A Unifying Journey

Jefferd Monang, the BENECO Labor Union President, looked back on the journey. He said, "We're grateful our prayers were answered. The struggle was worth it. We learned important lessons, and all the hard times brought our employees closer."

With Engr. Melchor Licoben leading the way, BENECO looks ahead to a bright future, with strong support from their employees and the local community.
