Joanna Rose Arconcil, an alumna of Saint Louis University, has made history by ranking 6th among the 2,924 architecture graduates in the Philippines who passed the June 2023 Architect Licensure Exam.
Arconcil, who originally wanted to be a doctor or a civil engineer, said she was hesitant at first to study architecture, but eventually realized that it was her calling. She worked hard and studied for hours every day, even skipping sleep sometimes just to review for the exam.
"It was tough," Arconcil said, "but I knew that I had to do it if I wanted to achieve my dreams."
And achieve her dreams she did! Arconcil passed the Architect Licensure Exam with flying colors, scoring an impressive 83.70%, which is higher than the passing rate of 75%.
"I'm so happy," Arconcil said. "I can't believe that I actually did it."
Arconcil's story is an inspiration to us all. It shows us that anything is possible if we set our minds to it, even if it wasn't our first choice. So if you have a dream, don't give up on it! Just like Arconcil, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
She is the 6th top-performing architect in the Philippines!
