Baguio cited as ASEAN Clean Tourist City Awardee Twice

The City of Baguio won the "ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award" twice after passing all seven key standards set by the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard.

Baguio City, Philippines - The City of Pines wins the Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Clean Tourist City Award for 2020-2022 after earning enough points and complying with the requirements of the Asean Clean Tourist City Standard (ACTCS).

Named the "Summer Capital of the Philippines" and one of UNESCO's creative cities, Baguio was recognized after embarking on a campaign of urban improvement and beautification, environmental protection programs, public safety maintenance and waste disposal , and maintaining hygiene.

The City of Baguio passed all seven standards set by the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard.

These are:

  1. Environmental management
  2. Hygiene
  3. Waste Management
  4. Awareness-Building on Environmental Protection and Hygiene
  5. Green Space
  6. Health Safety, City Safety, and Security
  7. Infrastructure and Tourism Facility

The ASEAN Clean Tourist City award is a recognition given to member-countries to encourage them to improve the quality of tourism in their cities, increase marketing competition, create jobs for local residents and push for local residents economic growth.

The award ceremony is set for January 16, 2020 in Brunei Darussalam. Winning cities will receive a certificate of appreciation and a plaque along with the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Label.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong was elated with the award saying the credit goes to the tourism community of Baguio particularly the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio and the Baguio Tourism Office who pushed for Baguio as one of the awardees.

Baguio City awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourist City for the second time

For the second time, the Summer Capital of the Philippines has been bestowed the "ASEAN Clean Tourism City Standard Award under the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Category for espousing the ASEAN Tourism Standard.

This is the second successive season that the LGU Baguio is receiving the award, which is being given every other year.

This is the second consecutive season that the local government of Baguio has received the award, which is given every other year.

The City clinched the award for 2020-2022, and again this season covering 2022-2024 according to the Public Information Office-Baguio.
