Brigadier General Milton Y. Beset, an Igorot Army General from Bontoc, Mountain Province, was named as the new commander of the Philippine Army Signal Regiment (ASR) during the turnover rites held at Fort Bonifacio on Monday, September 14, 2020.
The Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana presided the Change of Command Ceremony where Brig. Gen. Milton Y. Beset took over as Regiment Commander replacing Brig. Gen. Vener Odilon D. Mariano.
The ASR is the Army’s sole provider of signal support and services. It aims to provide one network for the Philippine Army through its various transformation initiatives.
Who is Brigadier General Milton Y. Beset?
Colonel Milton Y. Beset, a Philippine Army Officer was promoted to Brigadier General after Malacañang released his Appointment Order on May 4, 2020, which was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on April 27, 2020.
The Bontoc, Mountain Province born and Baguio raised Brigadier General Beset is the former Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Electronic and Information System (CEIS) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
A graduate of the Officer Candidate Scool in 1990, the Scout Ranger qualified officer spent his early junior officership with the First Scout Ranger Regiment before he trod his career with the military signal, communication, and cyber warfare, as a graduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) at Saint Louis University, Baguio City. He is also a licensed Engineer.
The General further honed his skills as Military Officer and cyberwarfare expert with his various schoolings, both local and abroad, and his assignments to various positions in the Armed Forces, particularly on matters pertaining to signal communication and cyber warfare or C4ISTAR.
Prior to his present assignment, BGen. Beset was the Signal and Communications Officer of the Philippine Army.
He finished his elementary in Pinsao Elementary School, Pinsao, Baguio City, and his high school at Easter School, Guisad Baguio City.
