Pinukpuk, a town in Kalinga province, was rocked by a brutal crime on Wednesday, May 15. Ruben and Apolonia Dangiwan, aged 65 and 64 respectively, were found dead in their home in Wagud. The couple had sustained multiple stab wounds, with murder weapons including a knife and a bolo found nearby.

The Grim Discovery

Authorities discovered the couple's lifeless bodies surrounded by pools of blood. The violent nature of the attack sent shockwaves through the community, leaving neighbors and loved ones in disbelief.

Unraveling the Tragic Events

Initial investigations revealed that the victims had been drinking with the suspect before the incident. Tensions escalated during the gathering when Ruben Dangiwan, known for his jealousy, made a remark that angered the suspect. The suspect then launched a deadly assault on the couple.

Pursuit of Justice

Law enforcement swiftly conducted a hot pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old male suspect on Thursday, May 16. The suspect's father admitted his son's involvement in the killings. However, blood stains found on the suspect's father's wristwatch raised suspicions, leading to further questioning.

As the suspect undergoes inquest proceedings, efforts to uncover the truth behind the tragedy continue. The Pinukpuk community mourns the loss of Ruben and Apolonia Dangiwan and seeks justice for the heinous crime committed against them.
