BGEN Venus Abbacan Magwelang-Bajarin, a proud Igorot from Kalinga, was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), making her the first female Cordilleran Brigadier General in history.
BGEN Magwelang-Bajarin is a true Kalinga "Laggunawa" and traces her roots to Pinukpuk (Magwelang) and Pugong, Pasil, Kalinga (Abbacan).
BGEN Magwelang-Bajarin is currently the Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Nurse and was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
Lieutenant General Noel Clement, AFP Chief of Staff, administered the donning of ranks along with ten (10) other key AFP officers who were promoted to higher ranks, at a ceremony held at the General Headquarters Building in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
"Your promotion to higher ranks bespeaks of your hardships, sacrifices, and victories. Your experiences in the service and the habits you developed along the way attest to your commitment to perform your duties with utmost commitment and highest standard," the AFP Chief of Staff said.
The AFP Chief congratulated the newly promoted AFP officers and gave due honor to their families and the people who supported their journey as military officers.
"Congratulations to all of you, on your well-deserved promotion. Let me also give due honor to your families and to the people who have been your constant support in your journey in the challenging path of military service. To your families, we also share this milestone with you," General Clement added.
Congratulations, BGEN Venus Abbacan Magwelang-Bajarin on your well-deserved promotion! You are a strong woman and truly an inspiration, especially to women!
