In a groundbreaking development for Zamboanga City, Police Colonel Kimberly Esteban Molitas, an Igorot woman from Kibungan, Benguet, has assumed the role of the first-ever woman City Director of Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO). Molitas brings with her a wealth of experience and a trailblazing spirit to her new position.

A Trailblazer's Journey

Molitas's journey to becoming the OIC-ZCPO Director is marked by numerous accolades and milestones. At the tender age of 25, she was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines, a testament to her dedication and excellence in law enforcement. Graduating from the prestigious PNPA Magilas Class of 2000, Molitas has served with distinction in various capacities within the Philippine National Police (PNP) for over two decades.

Educational Excellence

Not content with just her professional achievements, Molitas pursued academic excellence as well. She made history as the first Philippine policewoman to complete a Fulbright scholarship as a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs. This educational milestone underscores her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Assumption of Command

The official assumption of command ceremony, held at the ZCPO conference room and presided over by Police Regional Office - 9 Director General Bowenn Joey Masauding, marked the commencement of Molitas's duties as the OIC-ZCPO Director. Her appointment follows the brief tenures of her predecessors, highlighting the importance of stable leadership within the ZCPO.

In a statement, Molitas expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the new officer-in-charge of ZCPO. She emphasized her commitment to understanding and immersing herself in the local culture to better serve the community, stating:

"For me, it's very important to serve all the areas of Zamboanga. I really hope to be able to immerse in the culture and understanding even better how I can serve best the people of Zamboanga City."

Mayor John Dalipe also voiced his support for Molitas, pledging the city government's full cooperation in maintaining peace and security.
