Igorota Beauty Queen for Binibining Pilipinas 2019!

Kimberle Mae Licao Penchon, 26, an Igorota beauty queen from Barlig, Mountain Province will be representing the Province of La Union for this year's Binibining Pilipinas pageant.

This bewitching beauty is not participating in Binibining Pilipinas pageant for the first time, as earlier, she participated in Binibining Pilipinas 2015 edition, where she passed all the screenings and was handed an envelope congratulating her as one of the Official Candidates. But twelve hours, right before being named Binibini 9, she threw a bombshell. It was all about her stepping back from the pageant due to several commitments as Miss Beauche International 2014.

But after relinquishing her Miss Beauche International 2014 crown to Steffy Aberasturi, she again joined her hands with Binibining Pilipinas in the year 2016. She passed all the rounds with flying colours and made it to the Top 15 finalists at the conclusion of the grand finale of the pageant.

Apart from her journey with Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Beauche International 2014, she competed in other provincial beauty pageants as well where she marked her victory with the grace of her talent and secured various titles such as Miss Agoo 2012, Miss Baguio 2012, Mutia Ti La Union 2013, Miss HRAB 2014.

The said pageant's Grand Coronation Night will be at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on June 9.

Let's support our kailian Kimberle's Journey! Cordillera is rooting for you!

Songa: Fortifying our defense checkpoints against the virus with both Christian and cultural rites

In our war against the virus, we humans are uniquely blessed to have an Spiritual arsenal at our disposal where it has none.

We have God, it has none.

We may not see the virus but we humans have something called faith, unseen yet mightier than any pestilence.

We survived the Spanish flu, now this Chinese flu scourge - we'll survive it as well as any future one.

We only have to call on Him to grant us mercy of salvation.

BALANGBANG, A Native Victory Dance of the Mountain Province

(courtesy of Barangay Folk Dance Troupe)
circa 1960s Kr├╝ger-NBS Colored Photo Postcard

"... Balangbang requires the participation of many to beat the gongs and many women dancers. This originated from the western municipalities of Mountain Province (Besao, Sagada, Tadian, Bauko, Sabangan) but performed anywhere. Its version in eastern Mountain Province is the 'pattong'.

"The male gong players could be five or more and the female dancers could range from a single dancer to more than 10. It is a dance appropriate for mass participation. The male gong players move in a circular direction as they synchronize their artistic graceful steps and body swaying. The women dancers follow as they dance with the appropriate step, body swaying and arm position depending on the art and style of the music players."
