P63.3-M worth of marijuana discovered in Kalinga

Over P63.3-M worth of marijuana was discovered and destroyed by authorities in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

The total amount of marijuana that was discovered, extracted and destroyed by anti-narcotics and police operatives came to P63.3-M during the two-day eradication operation in Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

According to PCol. Job Russel Balaquit, director of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, the operations began on March 11 under the leadership of the Police Regional Office Cordillera regional director PBGen. R'win Pagkalinawan and 503rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army Commander BGen. Henry Doyaoen.

Authorities pulled and burned a total of 263,600 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants at five marijuana plantations.

They also discovered 87,000 grams of dried marijuana and 5,050 grams of marijuana seed from a hut.

According to the Dangerous Drugs Board, such contraband costs around P63.3-M.

However, no cultivator was caught in the wake of the operation called Oplan Binoryan as part of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program of the Philippine National Police.
