Igorot teacher dies after motorbike accident in Thailand

Jail Mariano Daniel or Jill to his friend, 35, was rushed to Sukhothai Hospital after rescuers tried giving him a CPR. The doctor, however, confirmed that he died on the spot.

In an interview with Pinoy Legacy, James Manzano, Jill's friend, said Jill went out last night. But on his way back, he made a mistake of driving on the opposite lane just after he made a U-turn.

"Jill had a motorbike accident last night on his way home. Sadly, after making a U-turn, he drove on the opposite lane and hit the wall head-on," Manzano said.

Manzano also added that Jill's body lies in the hospital's mortuary.

Another friend, Elmer Lonogan, is asking Filipinos in Thailand for any donation that can help in repatriating Jill's remains back to his family in the Philippines.

"We are asking Filipinos in Thailand for any amount to help us in these trying times. We want our friend's remains to be repatriated," Lonogan told Pinoy Legacy.

Former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio "The Rock" Banario, 29, of Mankayan, Benguet, Philippines is given another chance to compete in ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix. He is one of the three Team Lakay fighters competing at "ONE: Dawn of Heroes" at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on August 2, 2019.

Banario lost to Lowen Tynanes, 28, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, United States in the quarter-finals of ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix at "ONE: Hero's Ascent" at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on January 25, 2019. The Hawaiian fighter was set to face Timofey Nastyukhin, 29, of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia in the semi-finals.

But due to a serious back injury in training, Tynanes had to pull out from the card. Replacing the Hawaiian fighter, Banario will face Nastyukhin in the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix semi-finals at "ONE: Dawn of Heroes."

Banario is a top contender at lightweight who has won six of his last eight contests in the division. He possesses immense power in his hands, particularly his left hook, which has led to five big victories by knockout throughout his career. A member of Baguio City's famed Team Lakay, Banario faces one of his toughest opponents to date in Nastyukhin.

Nastyukhin, who shocked the world when he defeated Eddie Alvarez in the first round of the tournament via knockout, is a man on a mission. With only Banario standing in his way to the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Finals, the Russian stalwart will bring his heavy firepower to the ONE Circle, as he looks to end matters early and secure a finals berth.

Banario's Team Lakay teammates Eduard Folayang and Danny Kingad are also on the "ONE: Dawn of Heroes" card. Folayang will face Eddie Alvarez in the lightweight division while Kingad is set to fight Kairat Akhmetov in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix semi-finals.

Cordillera - An honest taxi driver Mr. Joseph Inso from Sagada, Mt. Province returned the cellphone which was accidentally dropped from the pocket of my niece at the front seat of the taxi Ganduyan.

We boarded the taxi at Lubas going to Km 4, La Trinidad, Benguet at about past 9am last Sunday - May 26, 2019 when the cellphone dropped unknowingly from the pocket of my niece.

It was only when we arrived at the house when she noticed that her cellphone is missing. Frantically, she searched her pockets and her bags but shed didn't find it in either of them.

So she suspected she might have dropped in the taxi we boarded.

Right away we contacted the missing cellphone and it was ringing but no reply. We also sent text messages but no reply.

It's only this day June 2, 2019 about a week ago that the taxi driver found the cellphone when a passenger adjusted the seat and cell phone dropped.

Then the t...
